MDP VP's son in hospital

Male’, Maldives, 6th February 2006 19:20 Hrs (www.olhuala.com) – Hamdhan Zaki, the second son of Ibrahim Hussain Zaki, the MDP's Vice President was taken to hospital with knife injuries about an hour ago.

Hamdhan's condition is reportedly stable.

It is not clear who is responsible for this cowardly act.

It is widely speculated that the injuries are self inflicted as Hamdhan has a history of self harm and suicide attempts. Hamdhan tried to kill himself by slitting his throat in front of his father, brother and first wife Yumna when she refused to accept Hamdhan taking a second wife.
