Gang trying to intimidate Majlis Committee

Male’, Maldives, 30th January 2006, 10.00pm (olhuala.com) – A group of 20-30 hardcore MDP activists have descended upon the Majlis (Parliament) Building.

The Special Majlis Administrative Committee had a meeting scheduled for 8.30pm this evening. It is believed that the MDP's intent is to intimidate the members of this Committee. The assembled band are reported to be making frantic phone calls in an attempt to increase numbers.

MDP MPs with no official engagements at the Majlis Building at this time of the evening are also loitering in the compound. Among these are MDP leader Ibrahim Ismail (Ibra).
