"It’s OK to say ‘I don’t support the MDP’. At last we can say what we believe – I don’t fear MDP thugs anymore!"
Dear Editor,
Let me first commend you on the great work you are doing in providing fresh news for us. You look like you strongly back the government but that is still better than DO which I check regularly.
But DO now has become a very stupid site mostly made-up stories and full of anything that comes to Sappe’s head.
Let me say that the actions of the MDP in Addu and the response of Addu people in rejecting MDP has empowered more quiet people like us.
MDP says that all Maldivians share these views and that anyone who does not is either stupid or corrupt. I do not accept that. Most of my friends take it as an insult.
And even if most of the people in Maldives support the MDP, it is still the case that they are wrong about things. (Where does it say that the majority is always right?) What happened in the last few days has shown that it is only a few people who support MDP anyway! It is only in the MDP rulers’ dreams that they have a big following.
DRP and government media appear to be more truthful, especially compared to MDP lies.
One other thing, supporting the government is not fashionable with the youth. If you say something defending Maumoon, then people start shouting at you, especially in Male’. People make threats at you.
But Addu has shown there are lots of people who support the government. At last they have come out in support and told MDP that they are wrong. And it is OK to say ‘I don’t support the MDP’. And we cannot live in fear – we can say what we believe at last.
I support DRP. But MDP have had a big effect on the population with their constant lies. All that b******* [swear word removed: Editor] about 27 years of no achievements. Even I start each sentence with “There are many things that the government has done wrong, but. . .”
But now when I think of it, I said that only because I was scared of these thugs. All those lies repeated over and over were drummed into my skull.
Think about it: Maumoon got 92% of the votes cast in the last presidential election (including 67% of the Male’ vote). Ibra got 58% of the votes in the Majlis elections and Karnal got only 52% in the by elections! So what right do these MDP people have of calling for anyone’s resignation??
How can anything 58% of Male’ people want be more important than what 92% of the whole of Maldives want?? (Ibura should join in Mandhu learning centre’s maths class grade 4!! Or maybe he has finished their course.)
But now even the 58% of Male’ people know that Ibra deceived them in the election campaign: they did not vote for him to do the things he is doing now.
I am not scared anymore. No matter what the MDP think, I am proud to say I support Maumoon, his government and his party (except for some individuals who joined the DRP for their own interests and try to take advantage). I will not allow MDP thugs to enslave us anymore. We will not let them dictate what we should think or say. We will not let them intimidate us. If they try, we will fight back. We will send them packing. Like they were sent packing from Addu.
It is good to feel liberated. It is good to know a lot of people share my feelings!
Sorry to be so long winded, and those who bothered thanks for reading this far.
Kind regards
